Elaine Mensah is definitely making her mark in the fashion industry. As founder and fashion director for SVELTE LLC, her fashion powerhouse, she is rapidly gaining rank as a force to reckon with in the fashion industry. Each of these service offerings provide a suite of  top notch online, in print, and in person services.  The SVELTE brand is uniquely positioned as an exclusive brand that promotes fashion with a cause and this runs parallel to Elaine’s philantropic nature and her commitment to support her local and international community. Since the inception of SVELTE in 2007, Elaine Mensah has produced and directed numerous fashion shows and campaigns; most notable among them is her contribution during her tenure as Fashion Director and Vice President of production for  Fashion Fights Poverty (FFP). Under her production, Fashion Fights Poverty has been named Washington’s Top Fashion & Beauty Events by Biz Bash Magazine two years in a row (2008 & 2009).

THE BRAIN

Elaine Mensah, born in Washington DC, raised in Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana credits her love for fashion to her dynamic background. With a Law and Society degree from American University and a Masters in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University, she embarked on the entrepreneural journey to fill a void within her Washington community. SVELTE is the manifestation of an idea Elaine had to transform her birthplace, Washington DC, from just a political state to a fashion capital! Her past experiences, multi-cultural background (raised in Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana) and portfolio of work in the fashion industry provided leverage and a strong foundation to the inception of SVELTE in 2007.

Today, Elaine’s portfolio of work prceeds her and her hardwork has scored exclusive interviews with personalities and experts in the fashion industry including Jason Wu, Lela Rose, Fern Mallis, Nigel Barker, Phillip Bloch, Ted Gibson just to name a few as she plays creator and host for online fashion radio show Fashion BS and  fashion channel SVELTE TV.

Her styling roledex holds tv personalities including Jack Mackenroth of Project Runway Season 4 and The Bachelor’s Andrew Baldwin as well as various campaigns for designer lookbooks, print editorials including Washington Life Magazine’s 2009 Holiday Issue, and in-store events for Macy’s Inc.

Elaine’s mounting fame in the fashion industry has also landed her a number of features in publications including Washington Post’s Fashion Washington, Washington Life Magazine, Washington City Paper, Washington Times, Capitol File Magazine, and Roll Call. She has also appeared as a fashion expert on WUSA9 News discussing ethical/eco fashion, on WJLA Tv affiliate “Let’s Talk Live” and WPGC 95.5FM, and was one of the four expert panelists on local DC area television program “As We See It.”

Yes, Elaine has been a very busy woman, as she continues to grow the reach of the SVELTE brand. Check out her accomplishments to date at SVELTE Media Room & Press Coverage. In addition to notches on her fashion belt, she recently participated in 2011 London Fashion Week .
