Fashion Illustrated – Munaluchi Bridal Magazine (Jacqueline Nwobu)

18 Mar

We all have dreams and aspirations – however, the one thing that takes us a step beyond dreaming to where our dreams become reality is  drive and vision. A recipe for success is never lacking in drive, determination and passion. My next feature is no stranger to this recipe. She identified a need within the African/black community and sought out to satisfy this need with her talents. She is Jacqueline Nwobu – editor in chief and creator of the Munaluchi Bridal magazine. Fashion is dynamic…fashion is fluid…fashion is fierce! It takes a well trained eye to use print to translate these qualities and bring them alive in the minds eye of readers.

As a young bride-to-be planning her own nuptial ceremony, Jacqueline Nwobu, capitalized on her frustrations of finding a bridal magazine geared towards the ethnic bride and transformed a hobby of photography into the leading publication for bridal inspiration for women of color. With a limited background in the editorial business and a hearty dose of determination and passion, Jacqueline gave up her secured job in the Biotech and Pharmaceutical industries and ventured into the unknown of owning her own Fashion Bridal magazine. Fast forward two years later, the  Munaluchi brand is rubbing shoulders with big names in the bridal industry. As a mother, a wife and an entrepreneur, Jacqueline bears the stamp of remarkable and driven as she flawlessly takes her brand to new heights.

The Munaluchi Bridal Magazine is the leading authority of bridal inspiration for the woman of color.  It provides a one-stop wedding sourcing resource for the bride with a passion for style and a love for culture. From cover to cover, the Munaluchi bridal magazine provides a comprehensive listing for a bride’s nuptial needs including photography, event planning, honeymooning spots, wedding couture etc. Also in an endless spread of real live weddings captured in true brilliance and style, the audience can experience matrimonial bliss and elegance through the vision of featured Munaluchi brides. The very first issue was launched in January 2010 and within a year span, the Munaluchi team has been able to accomplish what it would have taken a competitor brand a lifetime. During the launch of its third issue in early 2011, the Munaluchi brand was widespread in all 50 states in the US as well as had an international presence in Canada, Nigeria, Ghana and the United Kingdom.

The Munaluchi brand not only fills a gapping void in the bridal publication industry but also doubles up as a medium to showcase the influences of ethnic culture on the ancient institution of marriage. Through its ‘Pearls of Africa’ feature as well as destination wedding stories, the magazine is shedding more light on Africa as a premier travel destination.

Future plans for Jacqueline and her Munaluchi brand include other spins off to cater to different themes and markets (including a French language version catering to francophone speaking audiences).  The future does seem very bright for this starlet as she stays true to her passion and drive.
